At Six Senses Laamu we are very excited to have our first turtle nest on our beach! Every year from March to May green turtles lay their eggs, which hatch 50 to 60 days later. The female turtles return to the beach on wich they were born to lay their own eggs, which usually hatch at night and the hatchlings are guided to the sea by the moonlight.

We are expecting our hatchlings to make their appearance between late June and mid-August. Our Turtle Team is ready and on call 24/7, ready to assist our marine biologist to help the baby turtles make it to ocean safely.

Our guests are welcome to sign up to see the hatchings when they occur. On arrival we will tell you if we´re expecting a nest to hatch soon. As soon as the turtle eggs start hatching guests are invited to gather at the nest location and under the guidance of our marine biologist they assist in making sure that the little turtles make it safely to their ocean home.

Once they reach the sea and have had their first swim they have already mapped the bech location and remarkably, the females will return to the same beach in 50 to 60 years time and lay their own eggs.
